Our local beach is a beautiful wild habitat, an inspiring recreational spot and a wonderful outdoor classroom! Come join us at 10.30am on Saturday, July 15th for a super fun, family friendly event where we will learn and discover while cleaning up garbage along the shoreline, making our beach better for birds and wildlife.
What to expect: interesting facts, beach bingo, a treasure hunt, bird spotting and a BBQ!
We’ll gather at the picnic table by the kayak racks at 10.30. We’ll talk about marine plastic pollution and learn about some of our local Lions Bay shorebirds, including the Great Blue Heron. Then we’ll begin our cleanup, moving north along the beach. During the cleanup, kids will play “beach bingo”, and learn all kinds of fun and interesting facts about local nature.
Hot dogs off the BBQ and pop will be available from 11.30.
Please bring along a small bucket and gloves if you have them, we will have extra available at the picnic table. Also don’t forget a hat, sunscreen, and water! We will be walking along the shoreline which is rocky, so please wear good shoes.
